Giving Back

On Saturday I had a chance to go down to Lancaster to help decorate a tree for part of Destination Downtown Lancaster's Winter Carnival called the Tour of Trees.
Each business and family around the Downtown area has the opportunity to "sponsor" a tree and decorate it on the day of the Carnival and can choose to decorate their tree in their own unique way. Some of these businesses use a traditional method of bulbs and holiday decor  while other businesses opt for a more "creative" route, choosing themes and cute pinterest ideas. My personal favorite was a Smurf tree filled with all kinds of cute smurf figurines and topped with a giant Smurf on top of the tree instead of a star or angel. It was so cute!
What is really neat about this yearly tradition is that after the Carnival is over, all the trees are given out to families in need throughout the area thanks to Job & Family Services.
It's such a cute idea and it feels so great knowing that we play a part in giving someone a special piece of Christmas for their home.
I had so much fun and can't wait to be a part of it again next year!
